Brynteg Comprehensive School is situated in Bridgend, near the Heritage Coastline and with easy access to Cardiff and Swansea. It has a long tradition of education in the area, starting in 1896 and becoming a mixed comprehensive school in 1971 with over 2000 pupils, it has become one of the largest schools in the Wales. The school'sets in extensive and pleasant grounds 25-acres. The main buildings are on the site of the original Brynteg House and date from the 1930s. Over the last decade four new teaching blocks and a sports hall have been constructed. Brynteg has an outstanding sporting reputation at local and national level. A wide range of extra-curricular activities are offered at the school are football, netball, rugby, choir and tennis. A variety of opportunities are available at lunchtime and after-school to enhance the learning of pupils. The ethos of the school is based on mutual respect and pupils are friendly, courteous and to a notable extent, self-disciplined. They are proud and supportive of their school.
